Niche v Email Marketing

It’s a good job I spent some time last week setting up some blog posts ahead of time, I seem to have fallen behind a little bit, sometimes it’s hard to find the right balance between working online and living “real life”..

I guess I’m fortunate that I’ve been doing this internet marketing thing for some time and my income isn’t totally reliant upon sending out affiliate marketing promotions to my subscribers or posting stuff on my blogs.

I’ve got a whole bunch of “niche” sites that bring in a nice “passive” income from sites in other non “internet marketing” markets, like health, computers, games and even stuff like tattoos and hairstyles! 🙂

Many of these site haven’t been touched in months, if not years, and still bring in affiliate commissions on auto-pilot. I guess all the time I spent learning about SEO (search engine optimization) was worth while after all.. 🙂

Most Newbies don’t seem to realise that it’s actually easier to target these “Niche Markets” to start making money online, rather than going straight in to the internet marketing niche.

They also don’t realise that a lot of successful internet marketing “guru’s” actually make a larger proportion of their profits from sites in other niches, if I remember correctly, Russel Brunson’s even got a site on making potato guns, how about that for an obscure niche!

but it probably still makes him a nice passive income every month without him having to do any work on it.

It has become more difficult over the last few years to find those “killer” niches where there’s little competition and good profits to be had, but it’s not impossible, and you only need each site to make a couple of sales a week for it to start mounting up once you increase the number of site you have, after all, they don’t need to be huge “content” based sites. Most of mine are just one or two pages..

and because they’re in less competetive markets, they need less “Oomph” from backlinks to get a good search engine ranking. In fact most of mine only have a dozen or so backlinks to themfrom some of the backlink services I use and that’s enough to do the job.

If they start slipping in the SERP’s I simply re-visit them and set up a few new backlinks.

you can check out my favorite backlinks services in the “Cool Resources” blogroll links in the sidebar to the right of this page..

Patric Chan’s also just released a free report on where Niche Marketing is going and how Web 2.0 is changing it that I’ve posted about on my Internet Marketing Blog
