Evergreen Passive Income with Affiliate Marketing by Rob Cornish – So Good I bought Two…
This is one of those books that I devoured in quick time, but then the subject matter is what I’ve been doing for 20 years.
I still ended up making notes in the book and folding over 20 page corners to go back to, so whilst it is squarely aimed at people just starting their journey to get them on the right path, there’s some great reminders and tips in here for more seasoned marketers too.
For Transparency I do know Rob, I’ve met him several times, including recently for beers, chat & food with a group of marketers. Oh, and it turns out I get a mention in the back of the book!
and yes, I do have two copies of the book, it turns out I bought it originally a couple of years ago and that first copy got hidden away in a box when I moved house.
Overall Summary –
“Evergreen Passive Income” by Rob Cornish is a comprehensive outline for generating sustainable passive income online from affiliate marketing, and then moving on to having your own products.
The book is laid out in a step-by-step blueprint going through more than just the essentials, including selecting a niche & affiliate programs, creating landing pages & campaigns, pulling in visitors and turning them in to paying customers.
Rob details why it’s so important to go with high-quality, evergreen products that provide long-term value to customers, and why being authentic is the true secret to building authority.
Then he gets in to some of the nitty gritty of creating sales copy from scratch (even as a beginner), building your network, and stacking value and profits for higher lifetime customer value, especially through creating your own simple “nano” products.
Some Of My Favourite Bits –
Pg29: A Niche Doesn’t Have To Be For Life I also agree with Rob’s choice of what makes a great niche to get started in [see my 30 Day Get Started Sequence: Day1 – here]
Pg47: Great Thank You Page tip and layout example – copy this format and you will get good results!
Income Insight#17: The Best Time To Make An Offer Is When Someone Is Already Taking Action
Pg51: How to Dial in to Desire in 30 Seconds – This is a really simple, easy to action and highly effective strategy!
Pg83: 24 Hour Follow Up Email Template – something many beginning marketers either miss out entirely, or get wrong. This is a great format to use!
Pg85: The #1 Secret Of Trust Building Emails – a significant part of my income over the last 15+ years has come from my email subscriber list, again Rob gives practical advice that will make a quick difference to your bottom line.
Pg98: Nano Products – Rob highlights how simple, quick to create and deliver products can still provide massive value and create happy customers who will come back to buy more.
Pg109: Feature > Benefit > Emotional Benefit – this is something it took me years to get right, I wish I’d had Rob’s clear and concise overview back then!
Pg111: Product Outline – again, he’s taken something that most people over complicate and broken it down in to simple steps that are manageable for someone doing it their first time.
Pg114, 117 & 118: Writing Sales Copy is a formidable ‘dark art’, until Rob breaks it down and give’s you a way to get each step done without having to be an expert.
Pg123: Scarcity & Urgency – Don’t miss this out, you’ll be leaving money on the table…
Income Insights #29 [Funnels] & #30 [Get Rubber on the Road] – 2 simple paragraphs that make all the difference in the world, in my experience.
Pg130-131: Recruiting Marketing Partners – the outreach template included here is worth 3 or 4 times the cost of the book on it’s own! [IMHO]
Pg134: When I read this book I was in the middle of a fairly traumatic and unexpected life change – These final 4 chapters resonated with where I was at that moment and had a much deeper impact on me than just learning something about marketing, and I was lucky enough to have the chance to thank Rob in person just days later.
You never know what you’re going to come across in a book that’s going to be just what you need, I had forgotten this as I’d lost the habit of reading every day. I have dug out my pile of “to read when I have time” books and am now working my way through them!
